The path winds its way down through lush natural woodland crossed by streams. Admire the colourful rhododendrons and the views back to Lantau Peak, the forested shores of Shek Pik reservoir and its surrounding emerald green ravines and slopes.
After a picnic lunch, you hike over rolling hills and along a ridgeway - to the highest point, Keung Shan, at 490 metres. The mountain offers splendid uninterrupted views over wild south Lantau to the distant Sokos islands.
Heading down, you pass a delightful old Chinese landscaped garden before emerging at a tidal creek with mangroves and old salt pans.
At Tai O, there is time to stroll down the main street. It is lined with traditional shops, selling live and dried seafood. Photograph a vibrant temple and the very interesting stilt houses built over the creek.
